Travel information

By rail to Rochester Station and then a short walk along the High Street

By road - easy to find from A2 / M2 and M20.

Parking

There is a dedicated Coach drop-off point at the rear of the Tourist Information Centre and coaches may then be parked in the Coach Park with driver facilities in Gas House Lane.

There is plenty of public car parking within a few minutes walk of the cathedral.

There is limited parking for the disabled at the North Door of the cathedral, and a small car-park with spaces for the disabled just across the road from the cathedral in Boley Hill.

Visitor Hours

Open daily from 07.30 - 18.00; please check our web-site for details of any visiting restrictions due to services and events.

Admission

There is no admission charge but a voluntary donation of 3 / 5 Euros per person for individuals is requested. Groups (booked and unbooked) are charged 4 per person (adults) and from 2 per person for school-aged visitors.

We have a series of specially created audio tours - one for visitors, one for families and a reflective tour, which offers a spiritual exploration of the building. We also offer descriptive tours for the visually impaired and hand held signed or subtitled tours for those who are hard of hearing.

The general audio tour is available in English, French, German, Mandarin and Spanish.

The Education Department has a full programme of workshops and workbooks related to the National Curriculum for all Key Stages. In addition there are special all day events from time to time - details on our website http://www.rochestercathedral.org/education/index.asp The cost per student is from 2.

    Cathedral Tea-rooms - open Mon. to Sat. 8.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
    Small cathedral shop at Welcome Desk by North Door. Toilets and disabled people’s toilet.

Facilities for disabled

    There is level entrance via the North Door of the cathedral. The cathedral is currently undergoing a building programme to improve access. A new lift will soon be installed to give easy access to all levels.
    There is a toilet for the disabled in the tea-room foyer and near the South Door of the cathedral (inside).

    As part of our audio-tour offer we have hand-sets with descriptive tours for the visually impaired and hand held signed or subtitled tours for those who are hard of hearing (1 per person).

    Please note - we are sorry that we are unable to provide access to the crypt for wheel-chair users at the moment.
