Travel information |
Access by road from A1 and M1 (from the North and South) or M25 (from West and East). Easy rail access from London(approx 23 minutes from Kings Cross)on the Thameslink service through Central London from the South Coast and Gatwick to Luton and Bedford. The Silverlink service via Watford connects St Albans with the North London line and the West Coast main line to London Euston and Scotland. St Albans has a comprehensive local bus network with services from North London, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Luton and Watford. The Green Line service links St Albans with London Heathrow Airport and West London through to Harlow in Essex. |

Parking |
There is very limited parking, for Disabled Badge holders only in Sumpter Yard. There are several multi-story car parks signed within the town. There is a large car park near Westminster Lodge at the bottom of the hill where there is also coach parking. |

The Cathedral is open from 0900 to 1745 all year round. (We close at 1300 on Christmas Day) | |

There is no admission charge but we ask for donations. | |

A Gift Shop sells a wide variety of souvenirs, tapes and CDs and the Bookstall (in the Cathedral) specialises in guidebooks, postcards, cards, calendars and religious books. The Exhibition area tells the story of the Cathedral and Abbey church and its people in words and pictures. “Lucky Dip” Family Explorer Bags are available to keep younger children interested. (From Bookstall, free, £5 deposit required). Toilets and baby changing facilities are downstairs in the Chapter House. |
