Trains run every hour from London Euston - Travel time 2 hours.
Trains run half hourly from Crewe - Travel time 20 minutes.
Trains run half hourly from Liverpool stations - Travel time 45 minutes.
Chester Station is a 20 minute walk from the Cathedral and a free bus service runs every 10 minutes to the City centre.

Chester is served by 6 Park and Ride bus services which drop off in the City centre.


The nearest public car parks are at Gorse Stacks and Princess Street. Currently these are free after 3pm.
Disabled parking is available in St Werburgh Street.

There is a coach dropping off point at Hunter Street, just off Northgate Street.

Specialist tours are available, and can be tailored for individual groups. Please contact 01244 500958.


Please note that ALL groups should be pre-booked at least 7 days in advance of the visit. Please note that Blue Badge guides accompanying unbooked groups will not be allowed to guide inside the Cathedral; unbooked external guides are not permitted to operate inside the building.

Group guided tours by arrangement - ?5.00 pp inclusive of entrance donation. The minimum tour number is 10, and there is no upper limit. Group catering can be arranged, including morning coffee, lunches and afternoon tea.

School Visits

School parties and other groups of young people by arrangement. A variety of interactive tours and craft workshops are available.
