Travel information

 from BR Hereford: walk down Commercial Street into High Town. From High town take the small street called Church Street at the side of Marks & Spencers, leading you directly to the cathedral.

Busses drop of in St Peter’s Square which is walking distance to the Cathedral Close

 City Centre Car Parks offer th enearest car parking. Full car parking details in Hereford can be gained from Hereford Tourist Information Centre on: (01432) 268430.

Visitor Hours

 The cathedral is open daily from 9.30am until Evensong.

Mappa Mundi Exhibition, Cathedral Shop and Cloister Café

Summer opening (29 March - 30 October 2010):
Mon - Sat: 10am - 5pm (Exhibition last admission 30 mins before closing, Cloister Cafe last orders 15 mins before closing)

Winter opening (1 November 2010 - Easter 2011):
Mon - Sat: 10am - 4pm (Exhibition last admission 30 mins before closing, Cloister Cafe last orders 15 mins before closing)

Sunday opening (30 May - 29 August 2010):
12noon - 4pm (Exhibition last admission 30 mins before closing, Cloister Cafe last orders 15 mins before closing)

NB. The Exhibition is closed for most of January for conservation work. The Exhibition, Shop and Café are closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Please check opening times before your visit.

 Admission to the cathedral is free - a donation of £5 per person is invited.

School Visits

As well as visits for all key stages that complement the RE curriculum, provision for schools includes a KS2 Tudor Trail, in which children meet King Henry VII and other rich and poor charaters from the cathedral’s Tudor past.

For older students, especially those studying A level Medieval History, the cathedral’s Mappa Mundi provides an interesting focus for skills based study.
